Award winning food

A tummy full of a delicious, warm lunch can make a big difference to how well a child learns in the afternoon. We also understand that eating together is a really special time in the school day.

Our lunches are provided by Riverside Junior School and they pride themselves on going that extra mile to serve our wonderful children with tasty and nutritious food.  They were the first school in Calderdale to be awarded the Silver Service standard of school dinners! They cater for a number of schools locally and the feedback they get is excellent.

Cheryl, the Riverside Kitchen Manager, and her amazing team work tirelessly to keep up to these high standards, and are keen to make sure every child enjoys their lunch. The delicious parkin seems to be the firm favourite!

At Stubbings, Ms Stubbs really does provide a service with a smile!  Welcoming the children to the dinner hall and having a chat with them.  Our lunchtime supervisors, Mrs Midgley and Ms Storey check in with children to see how much they’re enjoying dinners, but they also look out for those children who maybe haven’t cleaned their plates, and help us to provide feedback to Riverside.

There is always a tasty Vegetarian option available - click on the link below to find our more about our tempting menu!

We like to ensure that lunchtimes are filled with fun.  Children enjoy being invited to the ‘Top Table’ and we all love ‘Boogie Fridays’!

Allergies

The safety of our children is our highest concern, and Riverside are able to cater for a number of children with allergies ranging from peanuts to kiwi fruit! We also cater for children for whom gluten can be an issue and prepare food separately, in a gluten free designated area of the kitchen using discrete equipment to insure no cross contamination occurs.

If you have a question or concern about the food we prepare, get in touch through admin@riverside.calderdale.sch.uk and Cheryl, the Kitchen Manager, will be in touch.

Universal Infant Free School Meals

All of our children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a meal at lunch time free of charge.
